Welcome to the Saga Furs Corporate Social Responsibility section. Through our operations and activities across the value chain, we’ve always put a high priority on sustainability. As the company expands internationally, regulations tighten, and stakeholder expectations increase, we have resolved to take a more systematic approach to managing our responsibilities.
One of the first actions has been to prioritise those areas in which we have the most impact. These include farm certification, product traceability, animal welfare, and increased transparency, which the information on this page seeks to provide.
Saga Furs is known for auctioning the best quality fur by the use of only the best practices for fur breeding by following specific animal welfare guidelines. These are all included in the Saga Certification which outstands international laws, regulations and industry codes of practice that tightly regulate the fur trade. These ethical policies address everything from animal welfare to environmental impact.
Saga Furs is the only fur seller in the industry with a supplier certification and auditing programme on the environment and animal health and welfare. We are the industry leader in certification, and the Saga Certification has been used since 2005.
In addition to certification, traceability in the production chain is increasingly important. Saga Furs has created a pelt traceability programme, which enables the manufacturers to trace the origin of the pelt lots down to individual farms.
Saga Furs Launches new Code of Conduct
In response to changing regulations and increased stakeholder expectations, we have resolved to increase our focus on transparency. In this context, the Saga Furs CSR leadership team, together with executive management, has created a new written Code of Conduct to which every employee must sign up. During the first-quarter 2017, the Code was approved by the company’s Board of Directors and has just been launched internally.Read more
