The 4th Fur Shopping Festival was organised in Kastoria, Greece on 12-14 November 2019. Saga Furs was the main sponsor of the festival and was the only auction house with its own booth. The event brought together a good number of business buyers and the non-commercial visitors, being an important place to be for Saga Furs in a changing, international auction house map.

Kastoria is a city in northern Greece in the region of Western Macedonia. The Kastoria town is known for its many Byzantine churches and architecture, its lake and its fur clothing industry, which is an important economic activity. The region of Kastoria is one of the major global processing centers of fur production and marketing, supplying the global market with beautiful samples of the fur techniques.

The 4th edition of the Fur Shopping Festival in Kastoria, Greece, took place during 12 to 14 of November 2019 with visitors from 24 countries and the participation of 70 exhibitors of which 64 where fur companies. This is a retail-oriented fur fair, organized in autumn in the same fair grounds as the well-known annual International Fur Fair of Kastoria that has been realized every spring during the last 44 years, with more than 130 participants in its latest edition.

Saga Furs was the main sponsor of the festival and was the only auction house with its own booth. “Main and important goal was to have a presence and an information point in these times of change in the international auction house map as well as to inform thoroughly about our extended American mink skin collection”, says Dmitri Larionov, Business Manager, East Europe.

The main volume of visitors came from Russia (58.48%) and secondly from Ukraine (12.46%), with significant presence of buyers from Romania, Serbia, Turkey and Armenia. Fur buyers also came from Canada, the Czech Republic, Croatia, Denmark, Estonia, Germany, Georgia, Italy, Kazakhstan, Poland, Spain and Slovenia and other countries. Total number of business buyers were approx. 300, not counting the non-commercial visitors.

 

Fashion show in Kastoria Fur Shopping Festival

 

The innovation of this year’s event were the four fashion shows held in a very beautifully designed space inside the Exhibition Center, aiming to highlight the creations of Greek fur manufacturers during which 16 companies presented their collections.
