Meet Hope – 2023 new furry Top Lot prize of Saga Furs

Saga Furs introduced the Chinese Zodiac calendar to our Top Lot Programme in 2017 and it features a new animal in the form of a furry, plush friend according to each Chinese New Year. The year 2023 is the year of a Rabbit and we want to introduce you with Hope – our newest member of the Top Lot animal family for the year 2023.

Chinese zodiac animals have lucky meanings and Chinese people associate each animal with certain characteristics. It’s believed that people born in a given year have the personality of that year’s animal. There are 12 Chinese zodiac signs in total, in the following order: Rat, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Goat, Monkey, Rooster, Dog, and Pig. Each sign is named after an animal and each animal has its own unique characteristics.

“Saga Furs’ Top Lot Programme offers our auction buyers the superior quality Saga® Mink, Fox and Finnraccoon pelts. Top Lot animal zodiacs have been a tradition of Saga Furs Top Lot Programme to demonstrate the high-quality fur craftmanship and the beauty of fur. Fur trade has been undergoing challenging time in past years. With Top Lot zodiac Rabbit “Hope” in addition to celebrating Lunar New Year, we wish to bring good business and prosperity to all our customers in a form of a furry Top Lot prize,” says Samantha Vesala, Business Director, Marketing and Business Relations at Saga Furs.

Designing the Rabbit Hope

“Making this year’s zodiac animal has been a big pleasure for me since this is my favorite task every year and I have been away for a while on materinity leave. The rabbit is the luckiest animal of the twelve and I think that is what we all wish for right now. Luck and hope and therefore the name “Hope” was easy to pick for this little cutie,” says furrier Thea Bank Larsen.

Rabbit Hope is made of Shadow Fox and the carrot is made of White mink.

The year of the Rabbit

The coming Lunar New Year of Rabbit – in Chinese Maotu – is the fourth early branch  when the sun and the moon alternate, implies hope, peace and the recovery of all things. The sign of the Rabbit is a symbol of longevity, peace and prosperity in Chinese culture.

2023 is predicted to be a year of hope. People born in a year of Rabbit (2023, 2011, 1999, 1987, 1975, 1963, 1951, 1939, 1927) are known for their calm and decisive nature and they are believed to be witty, vigilant, quick-minded and ingenious.

As Lunar New Year will start officially on 21 January 2023, the Top Lot Rabbit will be offered starting from Saga Furs’ March 2023 auction.
