The 2025 Moda China International Shoes, Bags & Apparel Fashion Fair was held at the Shanghai New International Expo Center in September. The fair marked a comprehensive upgrade in the exhibition landscape of China’s leather industry. Saga Furs also was present as an exhibitor.
As an international fur auction house and an upstream supplier in the fur industry, Saga Furs used this exhibition to actively promote a positive image of fur as a luxury raw material. By showcasing high-quality fur materials and exquisite craftsmanship, the company engaged in in-depth dialogues with fur product manufacturers, retailers, and designers to inspire forward-thinking ideas and jointly create innovation in the industry.
At the same time, Saga Furs also promote its brand trademark, high-quality furs, responsible corporate culture, and sustainable development strategy. By leveraging its trademark to add value to fur products, Saga Furs focuses on enhancing the overall value of fur products. Its brand trademark provides strong product image support and differentiation for manufacturing and retail enterprises, helping them establish a more distinct presence in the market.
Saga Furs CEO addresses global fur industry challenges at Shanghai conference
Saga Furs was also invited to attend the 2025 China Fur and Leather Garment Industry Joint Conference, held in Shanghai under the theme “Consolidating Strength and Gathering Momentum for Renewal.”
Markus Gotthardt, CEO of Saga Furs from Finland, delivered a speech on the current state of the international fur industry. He noted that in recent years, the scale of global fur production has significantly shrunk, with mink and fox dropping well below peak levels. Prices have remained persistently low. The average mink pelt price is still far below the 2013 level, while fox pelt prices have long fallen below production costs.
He also pointed out that the European Union has classified mink as an invasive alien species. Member states are required to phase out production by August 2029 unless exceptional permits are granted. This is a move that may further affect regional production. Finally, Gotthardt introduced Saga Furs’ development history, business scope, operational philosophy, and market development strategies.
