A short film follows the Russian designer Alena Akhmadullina as she visied the Saga Furs’ June auction to choose mink furs for her upcoming AW20 collection. During her visit, she gained a wider understanding of the auction side of Saga Furs, as well as our commitment to the finest quality in furs.
Longstanding Saga Furs collaborator Russian fashion designer Alena Akhmadullina got a front row seat at the Saga Furs June 2019 auction, not only to select mink colours for her upcoming AW20 collection, but also to get a unique understanding of the work that goes into inspecting the quality of furs and the exhilarating auction dynamic.
The fashion designer Akhmadullina makes the very most of the creative inspiration and support available to her at Saga Furs: she has spent valuable time in the lead-up to her shows sourcing ideas and technical know-how at our Saga’s Fur Vision events and at the Saga Design Centre, which she first visited as a student 15 years ago.
Akhmadullina is known for magic
Alena Akhmadulline is known for her magical and highly artistic pieces using Saga Furs’ exclusive selection of superior quality furs, for her AW18 presentation in Moscow Akhmadullina incorporated Saga fox to bring characters from H.C. Andersen’s fairytale The Snow Queen to life with fantastical hats and intarsia snow owls.
This year, her AW19 show during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Russia looked to the Russian folk tale The Cat and the Fox to dream up multi-fur inlay outerwear and fashion’s current must-have accessory: the mink headband. What Alena Akhmadullina has planned for AW20 with Saga Mink we shall have to wait and see, but the result will no doubt be an exciting take on the possibilities of fur.
Saga Furs will host the next auction on 15–20 September 2019.
