Insider Information: Saga Furs’ March auction brokerage sales is EUR 96 Million

Saga Furs’ March auction concluded today, 13 March, selling 2.6 million pelts (3/2024: 3.0 million pelts) with 320 buyers in attendance. The majority of purchases were made for the Chinese market, with encouraging increases in sales to South Korea, Türkiye, Greece, and the Western fashion industry. The auction’s total brokerage sales amounted to EUR 96 million (March 2024: EUR 102 million).

Of the 2.8 million mink pelts offered, 84% were sold and of the 290,000 fox and Finnraccoon pelts 70% were sold. Mink pelt prices continued their positive trend, while fox and Finnraccoon pelt prices remained at last year’s levels, continuing to be unprofitable for producers.

“Following the successful mink auction, fox and Finnraccoon pelt sales was in line with our expectations. In the fox auction, some pelt types showed clear improvements in both sales percentages and price levels. However, the price level of blue fox, our main product, did not strengthen. The March auction attracted 320 buyers, the highest number in many years, including a new generation of buyers from key market areas. Positive signs have also been seen recently at fashion weeks with the increased use of fur,” says Saga Furs CEO Markus Gotthardt.

The company will hold its next auction in June 2025.

Day 6 report / Thursday, 13 March

Saga Furs’ March auction concluded today. The offering today consisted of 155,000 Blue fox, 25 000 Blue Frost and 24 000 Silver foxes.

  • Blue foxes were 55% sold at firm prices.
  • Blue Frost foxes were 95% sold at firm prices.
  • Silver foxes were 95% sold at slightly increasing prices.

All prices are compared to previous offerings in 2024 and refer to regular pelts.

Türkiye was the dominating market with good support from China, South Korea, Greece and Western fashion industry. Saga Furs’ next auction will be held in June.

Day 5 report / Wednesday, 12 March

Saga Furs mink auction concluded today with the offering of 392,000 White mink pelts.

  • The White Classic male collection was 85% sold at firm prices.
  • White Velvet males met resistance, 25% was sold at firm prices.
  • The White female collection was 85% sold at firm prices.
  • All prices compared to the September 2024 auction and refer to regular pelts.
  • China was the dominating market with good support from South Korea, Türkiye, Greece and the European fashion industry.

The auction then continued with the offering of 87,000 Finnraccoon and fox pelts.

  • The Finnraccoon collection was 95% sold at increasing prices.
  • Blue Shadow foxes were 60% sold at firm prices.
  • The mutation foxes were almost 100% sold under very good demand at increasing prices.
  • All prices compared to the previous offerings and refer to regular pelts.
  • China was the dominating market with good support from South Korea, Türkiye, Greece and the European fashion industry.

The Blue Shadow Fox Top Lot was purchased by By Shin DMK Ltd for Chinese Brand CC FUR.

The auction concludes tomorrow with the offering of Blue fox, Blue Frost and Silver foxes.

Inside Information: At Saga Furs’ mink auction, 83% of pelts were sold and the positive price trend continued

The mink pelt sale at Saga Furs’ auction, which began on March 8, concluded today on 12 March. The mink auction attracted 320 buyers, which is a record number in many years.

“We expected the broad demand and the upward trend in prices to continue for mink pelts. The result was in line with our targets for the season’s first auction. Of the 2.8 million mink pelts offered, 83% were sold. The price level for regular quality pelts increased by an average of 7% compared to the September 2024 auction,” says Saga Furs’ CEO Markus Gotthardt.

China was the dominant market. Purchases were increasingly made also to South Korea, Türkiye, Greece, and the European fashion industry.

The fox pelt auction, which started today, will conclude tomorrow on 13 March. The company will then issue a stock exchange release covering the entire auction.

Day 4 report / Tuesday, 11 March

Today’s offering consisted of 588,000 Silverblue mink pelts: 279,000 male and 309,000 female pelts.

  • The Silverblue collection was 95% sold at increasing prices.
  • All prices compared to the September 2024 auction and refer to regular pelts.

China was the dominating market with good support from South Korea, Türkiye, Greece and the European fashion industry.

The mink auction concludes tomorrow with the sale of White male and female mink pelts. The auction then continues with the offering of fox and Finnraccoon pelts.

Day 3 report / Monday, 10 March

Today’s offering consisted of 265,000 Pearl, 160,000 Palomino male and female mink pelts.

  • The Pearl Classic male collection was 70% sold at firm prices.
  • The Pearl Velvet male collection was 50% sold at firm prices.
  • The Pearl female collection was 95% sold at slightly increasing prices.
  • The Palomino male collection was 85% sold at firm prices.
  • The Palomino female collection was 100% sold at increasing prices.
  • All prices are compared to the previous auctions in 2024 and refer to regular pelts.

China was the dominating market with support from Türkiye, South Korea, Greece and the European fashion industry.
The auction continues tomorrow with the sale of Silverblue male and female mink pelts.

Yesterday’s Swakara collection was 100% sold at record high average price to the European fashion industry.

Today’s offering consisted of 510,000 Brown, 77,000 Black and Royal Black and 37,000 Pastel female mink pelts.

  • The Brown Velvet and Classic collections were almost 100% sold at increasing prices.
  • The Black and Royal Black collection was 85% sold at increasing prices.
  • The Pastel collection was 90% sold at high prices.
  • The Sapphire collection was 100% sold at high prices.
  • The day concluded with an offering of Violets, Blue Iris and Lavender.
  • All prices are compared to the September 2024 auction and refer to regular pelts.

China was the dominating market with good support from South Korea, Türkiye, Greece and the European fashion industry.

The Brown female Top Lot was purchased by Chinese brand Alessandro Paccuci [AP] at 1500 euros per pelt.

Day 1 report / Saturday, 8 March 2025

The Saga Furs’ March auction started today. During the 6-day auction, Saga Furs will offer 2.8 million mink pelts and 290,000 fox and Finnraccoon pelts to 300 buyers representing all the main markets.

Today’s offering consisted of 472,000 Brown, 78,000 Black and Royal Black and 46,000 Pastel male mink pelts.

  • The Brown Classic collection was 100% sold at clearly increasing prices.
  • The Brown Velvet collection was 60% sold at firm prices.
  • The Black and Royal Black collection was 80% sold at increasing prices.
  • The Pastel collection was 90% sold at increasing prices.
  • The Sapphire collection was 100% sold at clearly advancing prices.
  • The day concluded with the offering of Violets, Blue Iris and Lavender, all sold well.
  • All prices are compared to September 2024 auction and refer to regular pelts.

All markets were active today.
The Unicorn Pastel Top Lot was purchased at 780 euros per pelt by Hong Kong Tientsin International Holdings Limited for Zhejiang Heiyi Clothing Co., Ltd.
