Insider information: The value of Saga Furs’ September auction brokerage sales is EUR 97 million

Saga Furs September auction concluded today 15 September. Approximately 300 buyers from all major markets participated in the auction, and the majority of purchases were made for the Chinese market. In addition, pelts were purchased for South Korea, Türkiye, Greece, and the Western fashion industry.

Of the 3.8 million mink pelts offered, about 90% were sold, and of the 281,000 fox and Finnraccoon pelts, 68% were sold. As is typical for the September auction, a large share of the offering consisted of lower-grade pelts.

The value of the auction’s brokerage sale was 97 million euros (9/2024: EUR 105 million). The total value of brokerage sale for the current financial year is 324 million euros (2023/2024: EUR 343 million). During the financial year, the company has sold 9.3 million mink pelts, 500,000 fox pelts, and 40,000 Finnraccoon pelts (2023/2024: 9.6 million mink, 0.8 million fox, and 45,000 Finnraccoon pelts). The quantities of pelts offered at the auctions have been smaller than in the corresponding auctions last year.

“As in previous auctions of the season, the final mink sale was successful. In the fox auction that concluded today, sales percentages increased, with 68% of the pelts sold. We will continue to promote the use of fur to new customers in China and other key markets,” says Saga Furs’ CEO Markus Gotthardt.

The company will hold its next auction in March 2026.

The Saga Furs September auction concluded today with the sale of 29,000 Blue Shadow, 160,000 Blue and 25,000 Silver foxes. The offering included lowgrades and breeders.

• The regular offering of the Blue Shadow fox was 60% sold at slightly increasing prices.
• The regular offering of the Blue fox was 45% sold at stable prices.
• The regular offering of the Silver fox was 90% sold at stable prices.
• The majority of the lowgrade and breeder collection was sold.

The mink auction concluded today with the offering of 346,000 Silverblue female mink pelts. The auction then continued with the sale of 68,000 fox and Finnraccoon pelts. The offering was mainly lowgrades and breeders.

Insider information: 3.4 million mink pelts sold at Saga Furs’ mink auction

The sale of mink pelts at Saga Furs’ auction, which began on 9 September, concluded today, 14 September. As is typical for the September auction, a large share of the offering consisted of lower-grade pelts. The mink auction attracted 300 buyers from all major markets.

“At the season’s final auction, strong competition in the auction room for the main offering of lower-grade pelts resulted in the entire offering being sold. The price level of regular-quality pelts remained stable compared with the June auction. Of the total 3.8 million mink pelts offered, about 90% were sold,” says Saga Furs’ CEO Markus Gotthardt.

The majority of purchases were made for the Chinese market. Purchases were also made for South Korea, Türkiye, Greece, as well as the European fashion industry.

The fox auction, which started today, will conclude tomorrow, 15 September. Upon its conclusion, the company will publish a stock exchange release covering the entire auction.

Today’s offering consisted of 410,000 Silverblue male, 37,000 Black Cross, 100,000 Silver Cross, and 23,000 Palomino Cross male and female mink pelts. The offering was mainly lowgrades and breeders.

  • The lowgrades and breeders were all sold at strong competition.
  • Today’s limited regular offering of Silverblue was 40% sold at firm prices.
  • Today’s limited regular offering of various Cross types was all sold at firm to slightly increasing prices.

Today’s offering consisted of 213,000 Pearl female, 253,000 White male and 200,000 White female mink pelts. The offering was mainly lowgrades and breeders.

The Saga Furs September auction kicked off today. During the 7-day auction, Saga Furs will offer 3.8 million mink pelts and 281,000 fox and Finnraccoon pelts to buyers representing all the main markets. The offering is mainly lowgrades and breeders with limited amount of regular skins.

Today’s offering consisted of 377,000 Brown and 102,000 Mahogany female mink pelts and 334,000 Brown male mink pelts.

  • The regular Brown Classic female offering was 95% sold at firm prices.
  • The regular Brown Velvet female offering was 100% sold at slightly increasing prices.
  • The regular Brown male offering was 85% sold at firm prices.
  • The Brown and Mahogany lowgrades and breeders were all sold under strong competition.
