Saga Furs’ September auction got off to a strong start. The opening day delivered strong results, with prices meeting or exceeding the levels achieved at the successful June auction where comparable. During the 8-day auction, Saga Furs will offer 3.9 million mink pelts, 275,000 fox pelts and 16,000 Finnraccoon pelts.
The auction has attracted a strong international presence. This includes more than 220 buyers from Hong Kong and mainland China, confirming Saga Furs’ continued importance as the preferred marketplace for the international fur trade.
The mink market has strengthened significantly during the 2026 auction season. Following the dramatic price increases recorded in March, prices remained at these higher levels in June, renewing confidence across the fur sector.
As always, the September auction features an offering with a significant proportion of lower quality pelts alongside a limited collection of high-quality pelts. Against this background, the results achieved on the opening day are particularly encouraging.
The auction will also feature a collection of fox pelts. The coming days will show whether fox will follow the favorable trend seen throughout the season and deliver similar results.
Today’s offering consisted of 494,000 Brown, 56,000 Mahogany and 82,000 Royal Black and Black male mink pelts.
- The Brown collection was 100% sold at strong prices.
- The Mahogany collection was 100% sold at strong prices.
- The regular Royal Black and Black collection was 100% sold at increasing prices.
- Royal Black and Black lowgrades and breeders were all sold under strong competition.

China was the dominant market, with support from Greece, Türkiye, South Korea and the European fashion industry.
The auction continues tomorrow with the sale of Brown, Mahogany, Royal Black and Black female mink pelts, together with Sapphire male and female mink pelts.
