Traceability

Traceability and transparency from farm to fashion house

In addition to certification, traceability in the production chain is becoming increasingly important. In 2010, Saga Furs created a pelt traceability program that enables manufacturers to trace the origin of each pelt lot down to individual farms.

Global consumers expect to know where their clothing has been sourced from, how it has been produced, and to be assured that the animals were treated humanely. With the Saga Furs Traceability System (STS), Saga Furs can verify the origin and location of pelts in each lot through comprehensive documentation.

The Saga Furs Traceability System is a key tool in the company’s commitment to transparency and traceability. The program also discloses the proportion of certified farms in the company’s offering, the dates of farm certification, and the countries of origin.

Traceable and Ethical Fur

Saga Furs’ continued commitment to sustainably and ethically sourced fur sets us apart. Transparency across the value chain is increasingly important for the global fashion industry. International fashion houses sourcing fur from Saga Furs receive precise documentation to inform their customers about the origin of the fur and the responsible production practices of our farm suppliers. This demand for transparency, in turn, encourages producers to achieve even higher quality and more sustainable production standards.

Traceability is another key sustainability and ethical area where Saga Furs leads the industry. In 2021, we introduced tracing technology, which allows consumers at the point of purchase to scan and trace fur back through the entire supply chain. Full traceability is vital for quality assurance and represents a logical next step in enhancing transparency from farm to fashion house.
